Dr. Gilad Bino will delve into the fascinating world of the platypus, an Australian icon with a distinctive morphology and evolutionary history. However, this unique animal faces significant threats due to extensive human land-use in its natural habitats, leading to alarming declines and local extinctions in recent decades. This discussion will highlight the pressing need to establish effective conservation strategies. These strategies are crucial not only for preserving the platypus but also for ensuring a harmonious coexistence with human communities. Join us as we explore the challenges and opportunities in safeguarding the future of these remarkable animals and the ecosystems they inhabit.
